Sometimes when I’m walking around Chicago, I stumble on an unexpectedly beautiful building, or a sculpture I never knew existed. When I encounter such beautiful sights, I can’t help bu think “Wow, this city I live in is very pretty”. I’ve spent most of my adult life comparing Chicago to cities around the world, always thinking how all of the “exciting” things happened everywhere else - like in New York. For me the midwest has yet to capture my heart - even after 20 years of living here - but Chicago stands as an oasis to the flatlands that are the center of the United States. Regardless of how many more events are held elsewhere around the world, I must admit that my hometown is a sight for sore eyes.
